Samsung SGH-F490

Another of the touch screen, Samsung SGH-F490 is a 3.5G HSDPA device with a large 3.2-inch screen with an unusual 240 x 432 pixels resolution. This is roughly a ratio of 16:9, which indicates that the F490 is optimized for video playback so broad rotation by ninety degrees. Samsung F490 features the same “Cross” interface found on the Samsung phone Armani, which probably locations on the handset directly against the iPhone in market terms. The screen also has a kind of tactile feedback, and so pressing icons results in a slight vibration, similar to Motorola’s “haptic” technology.

On the back is a 5 megapixel camera with flash, but there is no mention of the auto that would be a serious omission on a device of this type. And although the F490 supports HSDPA high-speed data in addition to the 3G, the phone does not support WiFi.

130MB of internal memory, which can be extended with microSD cards. The SGH-F490 also has a standard 3.5 mm for a Bluetooth headset USB 2.0 and 2.0. It is relatively thin unit 11.8mm thick.

There is no word on price or availability, and Samsung have not been forthcoming with all the technical details, but we expect to see in the coming months.
